Abstract

Gender equality in education is an important issue for realizing an inclusive and equitable society. Although various efforts have been made to reduce the gender gap, unequal access and opportunity between men and women, especially in developing countries, is still a significant problem. The main factors causing this inequality are cultural norms, gender stereotypes and economic limitations. Transforming gender equality in education therefore requires a systemic approach involving policy reform, social change and strengthening educational institutions. Various strategies, such as scholarships for girls, provision of gender-friendly facilities, teacher training and curriculum revision, have been implemented to create a more inclusive educational environment. However, the implementation of these strategies faces various challenges, including strong social resistance to change, especially in societies with dominant patriarchal values. Structural challenges, such as limited education budgets and infrastructure that does not support women's needs, are also major obstacles to achieving gender equality. In addition, conditions such as conflict, disasters and pandemics often have a greater impact on girls and young women. Success in achieving gender equality in the education sector relies heavily on the support of all parties, including governments, communities and international organizations. The impact of implementing gender equality in education is significant for sustainable development. Girls who have equal access to education have a greater chance of contributing to the economy, becoming leaders in their communities and building healthier families. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive-analytical methods to identify strategies, challenges and impacts of implementing gender equality in education. Through in-depth interviews, observations and document analysis, this research is expected to provide comprehensive insights into the role of gender equality in education and its contribution to sustainable social, economic and environmental development.
